Movement and 5 Senses Scavenger Hunt

Sharing is caring!

Scavenger hunts are such a great way to get kids moving around and thinking about objects in a different way. Suddenly they are not looking for a blanket but rather a soft, blue object and it becomes much more exciting when you find it! It also helps them develop an eye for detail and attention to detail is very important in STEM, where small errors in measurements or calculations can have big implications. With this in mind, I have created a scavenger hunt that gets kids moving around and using their 5 senses! And as a bonus, it can be done indoors!

So for example the scavenger hunt will have things like:

Skip until you touch something blue and soft (we have a cozy blue blanket)

OR

Hop until you see something bright (we have a battery-operated night light we can hide anywhere)

I have prepared a printable you can download with our version of the scavenger hunt and instructions. If you want to tailor it to your family (include your own items or make different versions for each child) I have included a blank version you can fill out. Click on the image below and the pdf will appear in a new tab:

You will have to prepare and hide all the items around the house and then you can let the fun begin! Enjoy watching your kids hopping, swimming, crawling and tiptoeing around as they look for all kinds of things they can experience with their senses! And as a bonus you are sneaking in some attention to detail practice šŸ˜‰
